Bunny biscuits
(to be fed as treats not as feed replacements)
You will need
2 Weetabix ,
4-5 ordinary digestive biscuits
1 small Pear or Apple (thinly sliced) ,
Couple of Carrots (grated) ,
Small teaspoon of honey to bind it altogether, or which I prefer to use or rather my bunnies prefer I use I should say - is The Cow & Gate Frutapura
, this is fruit puree you can buy that babies eat , available from chemists or supermarkets, the ingredients are 100% fruit only in a purred form, you will only need probably one or two teaspoons
depends on the combination of ingredients you are using , add a little at a time not to make the mixture to wet.
Also try adding a few raisons to you mix , (really anything that can be cooked and is safe for your rabbits to eat and that you know they enjoy can go into your bunny biscuits
)
Play about with different ingredient combinations, see which works best with your rabbits
If you find your mixture is to wet/sticky just crumble in another Digestive biscuit/Weetabix/Cornflakes.
I made up a new batch last night
and added Banana as well , mmmmmmm mmmmm do they smell good when their baking
. Right so you got all your ingredients in your mixing bowl (now heres the fun part ) get your hands in there and squish it altogether (didn't that feel good lol) Right on we go , take small lumps of the mixture then roll it round in your hands , next flatten them out (biscuit size pieces) and bake for 30-40 mins (near top of oven) gas mark 7 is the recommended temperature, remember to check them and turn over half way through cooking time so they don't burn (you may need to adjust times and settings according to your ovens and obviously the thickness of your bickys)
Not only do the rabbits love them , but also Blue our dog and me
, they not only taste good! but do good! as they are packed full of goodness.
Happy baking.
