Posted on May 7, 2011 at 12:34 PM

She's here!!!!!  our new blue girlie has arrived and she's beautiful! so friendly , her name is Babs (thought we'd keep to the name she's used to ) she is 10 months old , am soooooooo pleased with her and! as you will see so is Billy  :)

Within a short time of us arriving back home Babs was eager to explore , she had no hesitation in going outside to check out her run.

After having a good look round she settled down quietly to relax but! not for long lol , just look at her face bless her  :/ as she hears Billy come thundering out of his shed and rushing up to the fence to see who this new girl on the block is 8)

Well allooooo!

Cant quite see.

But! if I go like this!

Awwwwwww holding paws

Go on give us a kiss.

Socializing

Posted on March 21, 2010 at 4:13 PM

This time of socializing the babies - getting them used to being handled is such an enjoyable time :)

Below  are some photos that were taken yesterday of  my time spent with them - just sitting on the enclosure floor letting them climb up onto my lap- then as they allowed me to pick them up I rewarded them with small pieces of veg :) and below pictures are the result. I apologize some are a little close but it's no easy task trying to hold a camera in one hand a piece of Parsley in the other and trying to stop a baby bun exploring the inside of your pocket because it's discovered that's where you keep the veg :D.

We'll start off with this cheeky little chap who as you can see is just wondering what I'm doing sat there.

As you see it didn't take long for him to get his reward.

And then it was no stopping them :D

Guessing?

Well! Beauty our Conti doe

had me guessing till the end! was she? or wasn't she pregnant? lol and!she was!

I was actually up in the maternity shed with her last Tuesday afternoon while she was gathering hay and straw ready to build her nest (only in the shed and enclosure part kept away from the birthing hutch ) and was able to take some photos of her rushing around gathering nesting material and pulling fur , she was so focussed on the job in hand bless her she wasn't even bothered I was there , she even let me make a fuss of her.

I found it so amazing! and felt so privileged! to have seen her preparing for the birth like that , It truly was a wonderful! Experience.

Freya!

Posted on November 26, 2009 at 3:23 PM

Hello everyone time for a catch up of recent events I think .

It is with mixed emotions I write this blog as the one below is introducing  Brea (that as you know we sadly lost) , this blog is about her litter sister named Freya that Emma (Breas breeder) kindly gave us on the 11th of this month. Freya is another beautiful Dark Steel Continental Giant doe , she was born on the 3rd of August 2009 and I am pleased to say say that she as the same bold and affectionate nature that Brea had :) I have uploaded several photos for you to see ,  the first two picture's were taken two days after she arrived with us and the other picture's were taken almost a week ago , as you can see she is growing quickly and as a appetite to match , she particualarly loves the Dodson and Horrell Just Grass and is like a little vaccum cleaner when that's about :D

She had her first mxyi vaccination on Wednesday and was brilliant , we did however have a big scare with Billy! , he and Beauty had their VHD booster shots at the same time Freya had her first  mxyi shot , Billy had a bad reaction to the vaccination this time even though he had the last one with no problems , I thought we were going to loose him , we had to get him back to the vets , he was so listless , couldn't support himself , couldn't lift his head or move , they found his temperature was up , his eye was rolled back and it really looked like touch and go , he was so stressed they didn't want to keep him in the surgery so he was injected with metacol  to bring down inflammation , I was given instruction to syringe feed him every two hours with critical care recovery up until 2am but was told to phone back and let them know how he was at 8pm that night anyway (it was now 6pm) if there was no improvement by 8 I had to bring him straight back in , there was a little improvement in him by 8pm so continued to syringe feed him several times during the night , it took a good several days before he started to eat which was very concerning as we know with rabbits we have to keep their guts moving. The vet  phoned (which I thought was nice) to see how he was doing.

Introducing Brea

Hi everyone this is Brea , she is our new Dark Steel Conti doe (aged 8 weeks) we got her yesterday from Emmasgiants and I couldn't be more pleased with her :) she is both bold and very affectionate with the most magnificent ears.

Has you see from below pictures taken yesterday within just an hour or so of us arriving home she was already exploring her new surroundings.

She did start off in her hutch for a few minutes! :D

Then it was out into the shed

And well! when she discovered she could go outside also there was no stopping her:D

Notice the quick turn in photo below as if she was thinking!  "just checking that big world is still out there and I can go into it whenever I want "

Which she did go out into numerous times yesterday lol ,  and as you see throughly enjoyed herself :)stopping only briefly for a tasty grass munching snack before she was off on her adventures again :D

For those of you who know me you know I take the recomendation of breeders very seriously , I have no hesitation in recommending Emmasgiants , she has Conti younsters ready now at  http://www.freewebs.com/emmasgiants/

Lovable huggable Billy  (26/09/09).

They say a picture can paint "a thousand words!" So here's just two that have quite
a bit to say :D

However!  when Beauty was more interested in her breakfast than Billy!
I think Billy expressed his feelings quite well don't you

Gone Gone Gone ........

Posted on August 29, 2009 at 1:55 PM

Remember how I was saying we were having some trees cut down , (these Conifers below) in order to clear ground for more bunny accommodation. Well! glad to say all went well on Thursday this week when they finally did come down , even the weather was good! :D

The tree men turned up around 8.30am and within the short space of an hour they had removed the 6 tall and well established (30 years worth established) Leylandi Conifer trees (and you know how quickly and the height they grow to) . I was soooooooo impressed! they were like a lot of monkeys swinging from tree to tree  lol.  I managed to snap  this piccy of them working (you don't know how hard that was without being seen ).

We had already bought two of the large dog cages especially to bring Billy and Beauty into the house while the men were working so they wouldn't get stressed with the noise of the chainsaws, we needn't have been concerned , for , although we did bring them indoors and put them in the spare room when I had to open the windows to keep them cool thankfully they weren't a bit bothered by the noise , as you see Billy took it all in his usual stride and did what most males do best and took a nap :D

Count down .......

Posted on August 25, 2009 at 4:11 AM

Well we have a day for the trees (below blog entry) to be removed now , it's Thursday this week. The weather forecast is good well maybe not that warm :) but at least it will be dry.

There was a time we had quite a neat garden you know :D

but then I got the bunny bug in rather a big way :)and all that we seem to grow now a days is more sheds! lol

Going....... Going..........

Posted on August 12, 2009 at 6:55 AM

Busy few days coming up :) well not for me so much more for our eldest grandson really but shhhhhhh don't tell him :D

We are clearing more ground ready for new bunnies accomodation's Have already arranged for a local tree removal company to call and remove 6 tall Conifer trees next week (such a shame they have to come down  as they have been there for about 30 years but just need the extra space now) First however all the stuff that sort of gets dumped at the top of the garden (you know how it goes need's to be moved first) (thats where having an older grandson comes in handy) Below pics show the area we are clearing and will also give you some idea just how tall these trees are!.

Have bought two of those large dog cages so we can bring both Beauty and Billy indoors for several hours next week while they are using the chainsaws (the tree men that is I didn't mean Billy and Beauty would be using the chainsaws :D)

Will post more pics when they're gone.

The Tardis!!!!

Posted on July 25, 2009 at 12:32 PM

Hi everyone.

Well at long last Beauties dirt digging box is completed  The final 4 of 34 boards got Cupronoled (don't think that's the right spelling but you know what I mean lol)

And yes! I did manage to get some on the boards as well as the supports that they are set out on

Any way as you see by below it is a complete! success :) she loves it.

If you're wondering what she's looking at , look no further

she came to the realization the soil levels were going down! , not surprising really as most of the soil was now outside!!! the box

That dirt box is like the Tardis , you never know where it will take her next .

 I'm expecting a postcard shortly

So! If any of you should catch a glimpse of her on her travels please let me know! , thank you :D
